Volunteer
CMHA Kelowna is a volunteer-driven organization that depends on people like you to help us to develop our vision and provide services to our community. Regular volunteer activity can have a positive effect on your own mental and physical health. Volunteering with CMHA provides the opportunity to build skills, learn more about mental health, and meet new people, while helping build a more caring community.
Ride Don't Hide Event.
June 23rd. Have family or friends out there riding, or just want a litle fresh air. No special skills required just a smile, and a lending hand. Please contact our volunteer coordinator.
Weekly Volunteering Opportunities
Wellness Development Centre (WDC) - Our Wellness Development Centre allows individuals with mental health issues a safe place to come to connect with others, engage in wellness-based activities, and grow their skills. We are currently in need of:
- A fitness class instructor to provide weekly fitness instruction in our WDC
- A Wellness Group Volunteer - to lead activities that promote mental health (board games, cards, crafts, etc.)
Willowbridge Transitional Housing - Willowbridge provides supported, transitional housing that facilitates community and peer support. We are currrently in need of a Wellness Group Volunteer to lead activities that promote mental health (board games, cards, crafts. etc.).
If you have a unique skill set that you don't see listed above but you think might benefit others, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
Peer Support Volunteers - Applications are accepted on a yearly basis for volunteers for group facilitation, one-to-one mentorship, wellness presentations, hospital support. Volunteers for Peer Support Services complete a thorough training program before engaging in our Peer Support Services program. Contact our volunteer coordinator to learn when we will be doing our next volunteer intake for peer support.
Special Event Volunteering Opportunities
CMHA Kelowna is committed to providing community events in the areas of education, support, and prevention of mental illness. We invite you to view our upcoming events and if you would like to get involved, please contact our volunteer coordinator to see hwat opportunities are available. All events do not require community volunteers, but we would be happy to get the application process underway to have you on our list of volunteers for future events.
